The sign on the store says "The Best Fish n' Chips in Town". I get skeptical when a store advertises that. I usually think that the owners just assume that their recipe is the best, and if you don't like it, tough luck. After visiting the place, however, it feels as though this place earned its name because the customers deemed it so. Are they the best Fish n' Chips in town? For me? So far? Yeah, they are.
I entered because "The Best Fish n' Chips in Town" sign enticed me. And, also, because no customers were inside. But once it was 6pm, that was when the customers filtered in, and the line-up extended to nearly outside the door. Luckily, I ordered my Cod n' Chips before the rush.
The chips had a crispy outside without being overly greasy, the cod was tender and moist, and the taste was extremely satisfying, one that made condiments entirely optional. All in all, quite delicious. There is also an advertisement wall inside placed directly in front of the table I sat at, and I learned new things about Brighton. I learned the hours of the Buddhist meditation centre. I learned of one woman who offers karate classes. And I learned of one guy who is looking for a roofer, and would be willing to pay every Friday. If you're a roofer and want the number, visit the Woodingdean Fish Bar and also get yourself some Cod n' Chips. You won't be sorry.
